The Quiet Strength of Acceptance

The Quiet Strength of Acceptance

Acceptance is frequently misunderstood.

Many imagine it means approving of everything that happens.

It does not.

Acceptance simply means seeing reality before deciding how to respond.

Imagine standing in the rain while insisting it should be sunny.

The argument changes nothing.

Only when we acknowledge the rain can we decide whether to seek shelter...

open an umbrella...

or continue walking.

Acceptance is not weakness.

It is clarity.

Paradoxically, accepting reality often becomes the first step towards changing it.

Energy previously spent resisting what already exists becomes available for meaningful action.

The banyan tree does not resent the changing seasons.

It simply continues growing.

Some leaves fall.

Others appear.

Its roots remain.

Perhaps wisdom is something similar.

Not resisting every season of life.

But trusting that every season has something to teach us.
