Attachment and Love

Attachment and Love

Many people confuse attachment with love.

They often feel remarkably similar.

Yet they arise from different places.

Attachment quietly asks,

"Will you stay?"

Love gently says,

"May you flourish."

Attachment fears loss.

Love appreciates presence.

Attachment seeks certainty.

Love embraces reality.

This does not mean love is free from sadness.

Quite the opposite.

Love feels deeply.

But it does not attempt to imprison.

Imagine holding a bird.

Close your hand tightly...

and it suffers.

Open your hand completely...

and it may choose to remain.

Freedom has a curious way of inviting closeness.

Perhaps love is not measured by how tightly we hold another person.

But by how fully we allow them to become themselves.
